Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

Although we graded this nursing home extremely poorly overall, it received a better long-term care grade this year. We gave it a C in that area. For long-term care residents, the facility's primary goal is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. One of the factors we considered after nursing hours is vaccines. We were a bit concerned this nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccine to just 10.612247 percent of its patients. Fortunately, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

This nursing home excelled in the category of nursing, where it received an D. Nursing ratings are mostly associated with the facility's nurse staffing. This place offered only 0.2 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing ratings. This facility performed well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these metrics to be reliable measures of the quality of nursing care.

Facility Inspections

Grade: D

Sadly, this facility received a grade of just D in our inspection category. This is well below average grade. Our inspection ratings factor in many items found on the facility's inspection reports. When you see severe deficiencies on the inspection reports, this is typically a bad sign. Severe deficiencies indicate a threat to resident safety. Tragically, this facility had a category L deficiency. This type of deficiency indicates multiple widespread threats to patient health or safety. A deficiency in this category is toxic to a facility's inspection rating. Another red flag is that CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The last area we analyzed is short-term care. Unfortunately, we gave it an abysmal F in this category, which is a poor grade. Our short-term care grade is often used to assess a facility's performance with rehabilitation. In order to provide highly scored rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to feature better levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other types of therapists. Considering its grade in this area, we were not surprised to learn that this nursing home was well below average in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours offered to its residents based on the metrics we looked at. Frankly, this was about what we expected to find. Lastly, we assessed the number of residents that returned home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.
