Facility Inspections
We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility earned near flawless inspections in recent years. We gave them an A+ in this area. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing our inspection ratings. One of those factors is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these are relatively minor. While this place had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we graded this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing score. Nursing proved to be its second best category grade. In that category, we awarded this facility a grade of A-. The nursing grade analyzes several components, but the primary consideration is the number of nurse hours per patient per week. This facility provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality
Turning to our third category, this facility also earned a grade of B+ for its short-term care rating. This is an above average score in this category. Short-term care grades are generally used to assess a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation In order to have highly graded rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to have higher levels of highly skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly trained professionals. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 4.8 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
Long-term Care Quality
In our final area, this nursing home also was awarded a very strong long-term care grade, with a B+. This topped off a very favorable report card. Nursing homes that receive this kind of score in long-term care tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to make sure residents are kept in good health. In addition to assessing the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 63.46154 percent of its residents. This is slightly less than we were hoping for. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we hoped for, we were pleased to find facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
