Long-term Care Quality
We were not able to award this facility any respectable grades. We wanted to point out that it received an F for its long-term care grade. If you are looking for anything other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care ratings. On top of considering the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Fortunately, this facility gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is an above average datapoint. To our surprise, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home has fewer hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. Sadly, a few of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
Facility Inspections
This facility earned really poor government inspection reports in recent years, causing us to give them an F in our inspection category. An F in this category is typically a signal that we found some major red flags on its government inspection reports. For facilities with poor inspection grades, you should really focus on any severe deficiencies found on their recent inspection reports. This nursing home was assessed 2 deficiencies on its inspection report. The only positive thing we can say is that none of these deficiencies were in the categories that indicate they posed a threat to resident health or safety. Finally, CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.

Short-term Care Quality
In our next category, we gave this facility a rock-bottom F in the category of short-term care. In calculating our short-term care grades, we assess the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our purpose is to create a tool for comparing the rehabilitation services of different nursing homes. Based on its grade in this area, we weren't stunned to learn that this nursing home was well below average in terms of its number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours offered to its residents based on the figures we assessed. Honestly, this was what we expected here. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. This definitely was not a strength for this nursing home. We found that just 4.9 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most facilities, around half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.
Nurse Quality
Turning to the last area, this nursing home really did not fare very well in this category either. Due to a very poor grade of F in nursing, this is just about as bad as it gets. There are many criteria within this area. Most of these criteria are tied to nurse staffing. With a meager 0.2 hours of nursing care per patient each day, this nursing home's nurse staffing levels were well below the national average. Lastly, we also looked at a few quality measures in determining our nursing ratings. This nursing home was above average in two of the statistics we focus on, with good scores for minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. These metrics are usually reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care available.
