Facility Inspections

Grade: A

To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. These inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This facility was assessed 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be major deficiencies. This indicates that the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies to pose an immediate risk to resident health or safety. We should note that deficiency-free inspections are rare in the industry.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

Adding to its impressive resume, this nursing home also excelled in our nursing category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A for that category. Nursing ratings are largely based on a nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the country in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as having a system of moving patients more frequently.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Adding to its first-rate assessment, this nursing home also was given an excellent short-term care grade, with a score of A. In computing our short-term care ratings, we scrutinize the facility's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This grade is typically a meaningful measure of the nursing home's rehabilitation services. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. However, based on the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the number of residents that ultimately were able to return home from this facility. We found that 5.4 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

In our final area, we gave this nursing home a grade of A for its long-term care rating. This topped off a very impressive profile. When facilities receive this kind of score in this category it is typically a good sign for resident care and suggests that the facility is well-staffed with nurses and aids. After considering the volume of nursing care, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 99.324326 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is what we like to see. Pneumonia tragically can be a life threatening illness for nursing home residents so we strongly prefer when a nursing home does not take any chances. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
