Long-term Care Quality
One of the many reasons this turned out to be a great nursing home is that it received an A+ long-term care grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this category. Facilities that receive this kind of grade in long-term care tend to provide consistent around the clock care to make sure residents are well cared for. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 96.4539 percent of its residents, which is what we like to see. Pneumonia can be a life threatening illness for nursing home patients so we like it when a facility does not leave its residents vulnerable. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility received an impressive grade of A in our nursing category. Our nursing rating is largely tied to a facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

This nursing home also performed well in the category of inspections. In fact, it received a nearly flawless inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our best grades in that category with a grade of B+. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating our inspection scores. One of those factors is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies end up being quite minor. While this place had a few deficiencies on its report, none were serious based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Short-term Care Quality
Turning to our next area, this facility was awarded a very strong short-term care rating. Even though this wasn't nearly as good as many of its other scores, this remains one of our better scores we offer. Our short-term care grades are considered to be more meaningful for individuals in need of rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation usually requires higher levels of highly-skilled nursing services. This includes not only nursing, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we considered the number of patients that eventually returned home from this facility. We found that 5.1 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.
