Long-term Care Quality
Although this place's overall grade was horrible, it didn't perform quite as poorly in long-term care. We gave it a B- for that category, which isn't bad. Unfortunately, this was not enough to salvage its otherwise weak profile. For prospective residents in need of a permanent place to live as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care is an important category. In addition to looking at the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its patients, which is better than the majority of nursing homes. This place also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we rated this nursing home so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing rating. This proved to be its second best category grade. In that category, we gave this facility an D. Our nursing grade includes many datapoints, many of which are based on quantities of nurse staffing. This particular place averaged a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This number is quite a bit below the national average. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing ratings. This place performed well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be measures of the quality of nursing care.

Facility Inspections
We also wanted to draw your attention to this nursing home's inspection grades where it received an F. This generally means we found some red flags on the inspection reports. When a nursing home has this poor of an inspection grade, you should look for severe deficiencies on its inspection report. Severe deficiencies indicate a threat to resident safety. This particular facility was hit with 6 deficiencies by government inspectors. The only favorable thing we can say is that none of its deficiencies were in the categories that suggest they posed a threat to patient health or safety. Lastly, this facility was flagged by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We prefer to avoid facilities with this designation. Please do your best to find an alternative nursing home.
Short-term Care Quality
The final area we assessed is short-term care, where this nursing home received a very poor score here as well. We gave it an F in this area, which is definitely somewhat alarming. Short-term care grades are crucial for people needing rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally requires higher levels of highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means a wide range of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. The final statistic we assessed in this area is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these poor metrics doomed this nursing home's short-term care grade.
