Facility Inspections
In addition to being a strong facility overall, it also received A+ inspections recently. Its inspections were virtually perfect. Inspection grades account for a host of factors found on a nursing home's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the number and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with higher grades in this area usually have few severe deficiencies. This facility was assessed 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be major deficiencies. This indicates that the government inspectors didn't consider any of these deficiencies to cause an immediate risk to resident health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
Adding to its dominant profile, this facility also excelled in our long-term care area. In fact, we gave it a score of A- in the category. For patients in need of a permanent place to live rather than rehabilitation, long-term care grades are an important measure. In addition to looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 90 percent of its patients, which is a bit lower than we were hoping for. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality
Another strong feature for this facility is that it received an impressive nursing grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of B+. Nursing grades are tied to quality and quantity of nursing care. This nursing home provides 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
The last category we graded was short-term care. This facility was given an impressive nursing grade in our assessment, with a B. Even though this isn't quite as impressive as a few of its other scores, this is nevertheless one of the more impressive scores in that area. Our short-term care grades are believed to be most meaningful for individuals in need of rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation generally utilizes more highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes not just nursing, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. It does not look like this nursing home submitted information on registered nurse or physical therapist staffing. Finally, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
