Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

Although we didn't rate this nursing home favorably overall, we did give it an excellent grade in the category of inspections, where it received an A-. Our inspection grades weigh several factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One key criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. You should avoid nursing homes with a bunch of severe deficiencies flagged. While this facility had a few deficiencies on its report, none were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. A couple minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Another one of this facility's more favorable category scores came in the area of long-term care. In that category, we awarded this facility a grade of B. It actually outpaced most facilities in this area. Facilities that receive this type of grade in this category tend to provide consistent around the clock care to make sure patients are well cared for. One of the criteria we considered after nurse's aid hours is vaccines. This facility administered the pneumonia vaccine to 100 percent of its residents. Vaccination is a reliable method to minimize unnecessary deaths and hospitalizations for the senior population. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

Unfortunately, we gave this facility an F for its nursing grade. Our nursing score assesses many datapoints, but the paramount consideration is the quantity of nurse hours per patient per week. This place averaged a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This number is significantly below average. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing scores. This nursing home fared well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

Switching gears to our final category, this facility didn't fare very well here either. Due to a poor grade of F in short-term care, this is about as as uninspiring as it gets. Our short-term care scores are crucial for individuals requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually utilizes more highly-skilled nursing. This means a wide scope of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 3.2 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.
