Facility Inspections

Grade: A

On top of receiving a strong overall score, this facility also earned top notch inspections in recent years. We gave it one of our best grades in this category, with an A. Inspection scores are based on many items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that score well in this area tend to have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. While this place had a few minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you that the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor made us feel better about this inspection report.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Among the reasons we graded this nursing home so well is that it received a dominant short-term care score. Indeed, short-term care is its second best category grade. In that area, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A. In the category of short-term care, we attempt to assess indicators of a facility's rehabilitation. We look at a facility's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, based on the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we looked at the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5.8 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

This facility is also strong in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of B. It outperformed most nursing homes in this category. When calculating a facility's nursing score, we look at the quantity of hours nurses are seeing residents and the levels of training of those nurses. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The final category we looked at is long-term care. This facility was awarded an impressive long-term care score in our assessment, with a grade of B. This facility truly does not have any weak areas. Facilities that do well in long-term care typically are well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to residents. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 94.405594 percent of its patients, which is very impressive. Pneumonia is often a deadly health condition for nursing home patients so we like it when a facility does not leave its residents vulnerable. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
