Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

While this nursing home received a decent overall rating, its inspections grade is notably more impressive than its overall grade. Due to a strong inspection report this year, it earned one of our better scores in that category with a B+. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining these inspection ratings. One key factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some can be quite insignificant. Fortunately, although this nursing home had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies shouldn't stop you from considering a nursing home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

This nursing home also received a strong grade in our nursing category. We awarded this nursing home an above average grade of B in this area. Nursing scores are primarily associated with the nursing home's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The third most favorable area we awarded this nursing home in any category came in the area of long-term care, where we gave it a B-. In a long-term care setting, the nursing home's primary objective is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate residents. In addition to assessing the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to a relatively low 81.990524 percent of its patients, which is slightly concerning. Nevertheless, this place was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

This nursing home's least impressive category is short-term care, which is the final area we scored. For this area, we gave this facility a D. Short-term care grades are commonly used to measure a facility's rehabilitation services. To have good rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to provide higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other licensed professionals. Based on its grade in this area, we weren't stunned to find that this nursing home is well below average in terms of its number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its patients based on the data we looked at. Lastly, we considered the number of patients that eventually returned home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
