Facility Inspections
Although we were not high on this nursing home overall, we awarded it a grade of B+ for our inspections category. This grade is far more impressive than the facility's overall grade. Our inspection grades are based on several datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important thing to look for on these inspections. Most importantly, you should avoid nursing homes that have severe deficiencies associated with risks to resident well being. Although this facility had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. A couple minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
We also awarded this nursing home a middle of the road grade in the category of long-term care, where we awarded it a grade of B-. In the category of long-term care, we analyze the amount of services provided by a facility, rather than more sophisticated services. Once we looked at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 95.970695 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is better than the majority of nursing homes. Finally, this facility was also able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality
We gave this nursing home a grade of just D for our short-term care score. This is not a very good score. Our short-term care ratings are based in part on a nursing home's quantity of skilled nursing services. This includes a vast range of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, in addition to other forms of therapy. Considering its abysmal score in this area, we weren't surprised to discover that this facility offered substantially fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other facilities. Lastly, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that just 5.2 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
Nurse Quality
Switching gears to our next area, this facility really didn't perform very well in this category either. Due to a bottom of the barrel grade of F in nursing, this is just about as terrible as it gets. Nursing ratings are largely tied to the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This particular place offered a meager 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This statistic is well below average. In addition to being below average in nursing hours per resident, this facility also had poor marks in the quality-based metrics we looked at in determining our nursing scores. We looked at the percentage of patients experiencing pressure ulcers and major falls. This place was at roughly 150 percent of the national average in both of these statistics. This is likely a bad sign when you consider that many falls and bed sores are preventable with better nursing care. These scores pulled down this nursing home's nursing rating significantly.
