Facility Inspections
To go along with its strong overall score, we awarded this facility an A+ for our inspections rating. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing our inspection scores. One of those factors is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies end up being quite minor. Although this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were severe based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility also fared very well in the area of long-term care, where it received a grade of A. Not many nursing homes fared better in this area. When facilities receive this kind of score in long-term care it is usually a good sign for patient care and indicates that the place is well-staffed with nurses aids. Once we finished looking at the volume of nursing care, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia is too frequently a life or death illness for nursing home patients so we strongly prefer when a facility doesn't leave this to chance. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality
This facility is also strong in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of B+. It outperformed most nursing homes in this category. The nursing category analyzes several factors, many of which are based on nursing hours. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
The last category we assessed turned out to be this facility's worst area. Nevertheless, even in its worst category we still awarded it a decent grade of B- for short-term care. Our short-term care scores are vital for patients in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually utilizes more highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes a wide scope of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we looked at the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 4.6 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this figure is below average.
