Facility Inspections

Grade: A

In addition to earning a quality overall grade, this nursing home also received excellent health inspections in recent years. We awarded it one of our highest scores in that category, with an A. Inspection ratings weigh a host of factors included in a facility's inspection report. One key criteria we look at is the number and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with higher scores in this area generally have few severe deficiencies. While this place had some minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G through L. This tells you the inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing grade. This proved to be its second best category grade. In that area, we awarded this facility an A. In computing our nursing grades, we weigh both nursing hours and the skill levels of those nurses. This nursing home averages 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can many times be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

The next area we analyzed is long-term care. Adding to its impressive resume, this nursing home also performed well in that area. In fact, we gave it a of A for that category. In a long-term care environment, the primary objective is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. After looking at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 90.243904 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is somewhat less than we expected but still a reasonably acceptable figure. Although its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we had hoped, we were pleased to find facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

The final category we graded is short-term care, where this facility received a B+. This topped off an elite report card. Very few nursing homes received a B+ or higher in every single category. In computing our short-term care grades, we scrutinize the nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other licensed professionals. This rating is frequently a reliable assessment of the nursing home's rehabilitation services. It does not appear that this facility submitted information on registered nurse or physical therapist staffing. The final metric we looked at in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return home. We found that 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
