In addition to being a respectable facility overall, this place also excelled in the category of inspections, where it received an A-. Few facilities performed better in this category. Inspection scores weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

We also awarded this nursing home a respectable grade in the category of short-term care, with a grade of B-. Our short-term care grades are thought to be more critical for folks in need of rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation usually mandates more highly-skilled nursing. This means not just nursing services, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Unfortunately, this place was below average in terms of its level of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its patients based on the measures we assessed. The real question is whether this adversely impacted quality of care. The final statistic we considered in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is actually below average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The next category we analyzed was long-term care. In that area, we gave this nursing home a C. For prospective patients seeking a permanent residence as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care is a very important category. In addition to looking at the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 98.61111 percent of its patients, which is better than the majority of nursing homes. Lastly, this facility was also able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

The final category we looked at was nursing, proved to be this nursing home's worst category. We gave this facility a D in this category. Nursing grades are tied to quantity of nursing care available. This place averaged a meager 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing scores. This place fared well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
