Facility Inspections
Although we were not high on this facility's overall performance, it did receive an impressive inspection report this year with few dings from the applicable government inspectors. As a result, it received one of our better grades in that category with a grade of B+. Our inspection scores weigh several factors found on a nursing home's inspection report. One key criteria we look at is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. You generally want to avoid facilities with a list of deficiencies flagged. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that we have deficiency counts for this nursing home. We wish we had more information about this facility. Without all of the deficiency related data, it was a challenge to fully evaluate it in this category.
Nurse Quality
We awarded this facility a respectable grade in the area of nursing as well, with a grade of C. Nursing grades are mostly tied to the nursing home's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is a much lower figure than we were hoping for. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics. While this place got dinged a bit for nursing hours per resident, it excelled in some of these quality measures. With less than five percent of its patients experiencing pressure ulcers, it fared well in this metric. This is generally an indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as having a policy of moving a resident at least once a day.

Long-term Care Quality
The third category we looked at is long-term care. In that category, we gave this facility a grade of C. If you are looking for anything other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care ratings. One of the datapoints we considered on top of nurse's aid hours is vaccines. Fortunately, this facility administered the pneumonia vaccination to 95.541405 percent of its patients. This facility was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Short-term Care Quality
Turning to the next area, this nursing home really did not fare very well in this category either. With a very poor grade of F in short-term care, this is just about as terrible as it gets. In calculating our short-term care grades, we size up the nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This grade is generally a reliable measure of the facility's rehabilitation. With its grade in this area, we weren't stunned to learn that this place was well below average in terms of the number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours offered to its residents based on the measures we looked at. Lastly, we considered the percentage of patients who eventually returned home from this facility. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 3.2 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
