Facility Inspections

Grade: A

On top of performing well in its overall grade, this facility performed at an even higher level in the area of inspections. In fact, it received a nearly flawless inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that category with a score of A. Inspection ratings account for a host of factors found on a facility's inspection report. One key criteria we rely on is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with higher grades in this area usually have few severe deficiencies. This facility was assessed 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered to be major deficiencies. This indicates that the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies to create an immediate threat to resident safety or health. Remember that deficiency-free inspections are rare in the industry.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This facility received an impressive short-term care score as well. We awarded it one of our higher grades in that area with a grade of B+. Our short-term care grades are arguably more important for folks in need of rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation usually mandates more skilled nursing services. This includes not just nursing, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the percentage of patients that returned home from this nursing home. We found that 5.7 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

This facility is also strong in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of B. It outperformed most nursing homes in this category. Nursing ratings are based in large part on quality and quantity of nursing care. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as employing a policy of moving a resident even once per day.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The final category we graded was long-term care. Unfortunately, we gave it a lowly F in this category, which is a poor grade. We wouldn't necessarily disregard a nursing home due to one poor score though. If you are looking for anything other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at long-term care grades. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 97.89474 percent of its residents, which is more than the average nursing home. Surprisingly, this facility also keeps its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Sadly, a few of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
