Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of being an elite facility overall, this facility also excelled in the area of inspections, where it received an A+. Few nursing homes fared as well in this area. Perhaps the most significant factor we look at in determining our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. Nursing homes with better grades in this area most likely avoided the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. Although this place had a few deficiencies on its report, none were severe based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Additionally, this facility also received favorable long-term care grades in our assessment. Indeed, we awarded it one of our better scores in that area, with a score of B+. When facilities receive a grade in this range in long-term care it generally means it has plenty of staff and is an overall good place to reside on a permanent basis. On top of considering the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 95.71984 percent of its residents, which is better than the majority of nursing homes. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

This facility is also strong in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of B. It outperformed most nursing homes in this category. Our nursing score assesses the facility's nurse staffing levels. We look at both the levels of training of the nurses and the number of hours spent with patients. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can generally be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The final category we analyzed was short-term care. We gave this facility an acceptable grade in this category, with a grade of B-. Although this isn't as high as some of its other grades, it is still not a bad grade. Our short-term care scores are critical for prospective residents needing rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally utilizes more highly-skilled nursing. This includes a wide scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Unfortunately, it does not appear that this nursing home submitted data regarding its registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of patients that ultimately were able to return home from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was actually well below average.
