Although we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a decent short-term care grade this year. We gave it a grade of C in that area, which was the closest thing to a bright spot we can find for this nursing home. In calculating our short-term care ratings, we assess a nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This grade is considered to be a meaningful measure of a nursing home's rehabilitation. Unfortunately, we found that this facility provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. The final statistic we assessed in this area is the number of residents who ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that just 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

We gave this facility a grade of just D for our nursing rating and that actually turned out to be its second highest score. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing ratings. This facility fared well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these datapoints to be measures of the quality of nursing care.

If you are seeking anything other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at long-term care grades. On top of assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 99.425285 percent of its residents. Surprisingly, this place was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
