Facility Inspections
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of B-. Inspection ratings are based on several datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important item to look for on these inspections. Severe deficiencies indicate a risk to resident safety. Fortunately, although this place had a few minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G through L. This means that CMS did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Lastly, this nursing home was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. This is generally a really bad sign. We would never recommend this facility.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility also didn't grade out poorly in the area of long-term care. Indeed, we awarded it a C for that category, which turned out to be another one of its better scores. In computing these long-term care grades, we quantify the nursing home's ability to maintain its permanent residents' health and quality of life. In addition to looking at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 69.97167 percent of its patients. This is several points less than the national average. Nevertheless, this nursing home was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality
We were stunned to find that this nursing home also excelled in the category of nursing. In fact, we gave it an D for that category, which is one of our best scores. There are a number of datapoints included in this grade. Most of these factors reflect nurse staffing. This nursing home provided a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing ratings. This nursing home performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these datapoints to be reliable measures of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
The final category we graded was short-term care. This facility received a poor grade of F in that area. In our short-term care category, we attempt to create a fair gauge for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we look at a facility's scope of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Considering its score in this area, we weren't stunned to discover that this place is well below average in terms of the number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours offered to its residents based on the figures we looked at. Finally, we assessed the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This wasn't a strength for this facility. We found that just 5.2 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home. At most nursing homes, about half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.
