Facility Inspections
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of B-. We would argue that one of the most important factors in evaluating an inspection report is deficiencies. We especially look at the severity of the deficiencies. While this place had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you CMS did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.
Short-term Care Quality
We awarded this nursing home just a D for our short-term care score and that actually ended up being its second highest score. In computing these short-term care ratings, we look at the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The goal is to devise a scale for comparing the rehabilitation services of various facilities. Given its score in this area, we weren't surprised to learn that this facility is well below average in terms of the quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the metrics we looked at. Finally, we looked at the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. This wasn't a strength for this nursing home. We found that just 4.8 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home. At most nursing homes, around half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.

Nurse Quality
This facility's next best category was nursing, but even there it received a grade of just D. This is still a well below average grade. Our nursing rating is based on a host of datapoints. The most important variable is the number of hours nurses spent with patients. This place offered just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is not a very impressive figure. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing ratings. This place fared well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these metrics to be good measures of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
The last category we graded was long-term care. It received an F for this area, which is a bottom of the barrel score. Facilities that receive this kind of score in long-term care may not provide the kind of consistent 24/7 care that some other nursing homes offer. After we finished assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination records. Candidly, we were a bit alarmed this nursing home vaccinated only 77.10844 percent of its residents against pneumonia. To our surprise, this facility actually fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had just 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This was its best feature in this category.
