Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to performing well overall, this facility received a nearly flawless inspection report. Therefore, it earned one of our best scores in that area with an A+. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining our inspection scores. One key factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these can be quite insignificant. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report, which is still very impressive. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-plus

One of the other reasons we graded this nursing home so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing rating. In fact, nursing proved to be its second best category grade. In that category, we gave this nursing home an A+. In determining our nursing grades, we analyze both staffing levels and the training levels of the nurses. This facility provided 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home Wisconsin in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can generally be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as having a protocol of moving patients more frequently.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Building on its remarkable resume, this nursing home also received a strong short-term care grade, with a grade of A. Our short-term care grade is commonly used to score a nursing home's rehabilitation services In order to provide good rehabilitation services, facilities generally must provide better levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly trained professionals. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who ultimately returned home from this nursing home. We found that 5.6 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.

After looking at the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 99.23664 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Vaccines are critical to keeping patients out of the hospital. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
