Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

One of the reasons this turned out to be a quality nursing home is that it earned a very impressive inspection grade. In fact, inspections is its best category. In this category, we gave this facility an A-. Inspection scores weigh several factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. Places with better scores in this category generally have very few severe deficiencies. Fortunately, although this nursing home had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G through L. This tells you the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. We should point out that deficiency-free inspection reports are uncommon in this industry.

When facilities receive this type of score in long-term care it is typically a good sign for patient care and indicates that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses aids. One of the factors we considered on top of nursing hours is vaccines. This facility provided the pneumonia vaccine to 99.78678 percent of its residents. Vaccination is a great way to minimize unnecessary hospitalizations for the senior population. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Turning to an additional strength for this nursing home, we awarded them one of our higher scores in our short-term care category as well, with a grade of B+. In the area of short-term care, we endeavor to evaluate indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We look at the facility's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final metric we considered in this area is the number of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community.
