Facility Inspections
Although we gave this place a poor overall grade, we awarded it a B for our inspections category. This is due to the facility receiving a decent inspection report this year. Inspection ratings take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Despite this deficiency, this nursing home still received a relatively favorable inspection report.
Nurse Quality
This nursing home excelled in our nursing category, where it earned a grade of C. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. Our nursing score is based on many subcategories. The most important factor is the amount of time nurses spent with residents. This place provides 2.8 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is a much lower figure than we were hoping for. Finally, although this place got docked a bit for its nursing hours, it actually excelled in a few of our quality metrics. With fewer than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed very well in this metric.

Short-term Care Quality
We awarded this nursing home a grade of just D for our short-term care rating. This is well below average in this category. In determining these short-term care grades, we assess the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. Our objective is to formulate a tool for sizing up the rehabilitation services of different facilities. Given its abysmal grade in this area, we were not stunned to learn this nursing home offers far fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most nursing homes. Lastly, we looked at the number of patients who ultimately were able to return home from this facility. This place fared better in this area, with 52 percent of its patients returning home.
Long-term Care Quality
The final category we scored was long-term care. This nursing home was given a very poor grade of F in that category. In a long-term care setting, the nursing home's primary objective is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Thankfully, this facility provided the vaccine to 95.86207 percent of its patients, which is a very solid figure. Surprisingly, this nursing home also keeps its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.93 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
