Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this place also received top notch health inspections in recent years. We awarded them one of our better grades in that category, with an A+. Our inspection scores account for a host of factors included in a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with better grades in this area tend to have very few severe deficiencies. Unfortunately, we weren't able to locate information about this nursing home's deficiencies. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This nursing home received impressive grades in the category of long-term care as well. As a result, it received one of our best grades in that area with a area of A-. When nursing homes receive a score in this range in this category it generally means it's well-staffed and is a quality place to live on a permanent basis. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 98.4375 percent of its residents. Vaccines are vital to keeping patients out of the hospital. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

Turning to the area of nursing care, this was not one of this facility's strong suits. We awarded it a grade of D in this category. Clearly, this facility performed much better in the categories discussed above. Our nursing score is based on the facility's level of nurse staffing. We consider both the levels of licensure of the nurses and the amount of time spent with patients. This nursing home provided a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place fared well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

The final area we graded is short-term care, was this nursing home's worst area. We gave this nursing home a grade of D in this area. This really is one of the couple of weak links on a very solid profile. In the area of short-term care, we attempt to assess indicators of a facility's rehabilitation. We look at the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. In this nursing home's case, we found that it provides less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of residents that returned home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 3.9 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
