Facility Inspections
To go along with its decent overall grade, we gave this nursing home an A for our inspections rating. This is far more impressive than its overall score. Our inspection scores weigh several factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One key criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with better grades in this category generally have very few of these severe deficiencies. While this facility had a few deficiencies on its report, none were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. A couple minor deficiencies shouldn't lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.
Short-term Care Quality
This facilities next best area is short-term care. We awarded it a B- in this area. This is essentially a middle of the road grade in this category. In calculating these short-term care ratings, we look at the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. Our goal is to formulate a tool for sizing up the rehabilitation services of various nursing homes. This nursing home provides a decent amount of services from physical therapists and registered nurses based on our assessment. Lastly, we considered the number of patients who were able to return home from this nursing home. This place performed respectably in this area with 45.3 percent of its patients returning home.
Nurse Quality
This facility's next best category was its nursing grade, where it received a grade of B-. In calculating our nursing scores, we analyze both staffing levels and the skill levels of those nurses. This nursing home averages just 3.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Lastly, our nursing scores also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. Although this facility did not have as many nursing hours per resident as many other nursing homes we looked at, it was still better than average in the area of avoiding falls. This is usually an indicator of how carefully a facility's nursing staff is tending to its residents. Major falls can many times be prevented if more nurses and better safety protocols are in place.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home's least impressive area is long-term care, which is the final area we analyzed. For this area, we gave this facility a grade of D. For prospective patients looking for a permanent residence as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care is an important category. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 99.23955 percent of its residents, which is better than the majority of nursing homes. Surprisingly, this nursing home also fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had just 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
