Even though we did not give this nursing home a good overall score, we surprisingly awarded it a fairly strong score in the area of long-term care, where it earned a B. This is better than most facilities in this category. This helped an otherwise abysmal profile. In a long-term care environment, the facility's primary goal is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. On top of considering the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 86.27003 percent of its patients, which is slightly below what we anticipated. Finally, we looked at the facility's number of hospitalizations. We found that this nursing home had 3.81 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. While this wasn't as impressive as some of its other scores in this category, this statistic can be skewed for some nursing homes due to some of the medical complexity of patients.

We actually gave this facility a very solid grade in the area of inspections as well. We gave it a grade of B- in this category. This is better than many facilities in this category. Inspection ratings account for several factors included in a nursing home's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. This particular nursing home received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a solid inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.

This nursing home actually received a decent grade in the area of nursing as well. We awarded it a grade of B- for that category, which is not a bad score. Our nursing score weighs numerous subcategories. The most important factor is the amount of time nurses spend with residents. This particular nursing home provided 3.7 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also factored a few quality measures into our nursing grades. This place was relatively weak in two of the major metrics we look at, with subpar scores for minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. These areas are usually good measures of the quality of nursing care available.

Turning to our fourth category, this nursing home received an acceptable short-term care grade of C. Short-term care ratings are based in part on a facility's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This includes a vast spectrum of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other types of therapy. We were pleased to find that this nursing home employs both registered nurses and physical therapists. The same can't be said for all nursing homes. The final statistic we assessed in this category is the percentage of patients who ultimately were able to return home from the facility. We found that just 40 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. Unfortunately, this was below the national average.
