Short-term Care Quality
Although we didn't rate this nursing home well overall, we want to point out that it received a B- for short-term care. This isn't a horrible score Our short-term care grades are arguably more critical for residents needing a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically requires additional highly-skilled nursing services. This includes not just nursing services, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. We were surprised to find that this facility was below average in the two key staffing areas we focus on. In fact, it supplied fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. It is important to determine whether this is adversely impacting the quality of care. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of residents who were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was well below average.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we graded this nursing home so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing rating. This turned out to be its second best category grade. In that category, we awarded this nursing home an B-. We scrutinized the licensure of nurses at the facility, as well as the quantity of hours the nurses were with patients, in calculating our grade in this area. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, despite not having the highest total nursing hours, this nursing home actually performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is usually a reliable indicator that a nursing home has sufficient quality controls in place.

Facility Inspections
This facility received mediocre government inspections in recent years. We awarded them a C in this area. Inspection scores account for several factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. This nursing home had 3 deficiencies on its government inspection report, but we were relieved to find that none were category G through L deficiencies. This tells you that CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies to be an imminent risk to patient safety or health. Unfortunately, we also need to draw your attention to the fact that this facility received significant government fines in recent years.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we looked at is long-term care. It received an abysmal F in this area, which is a poor score. Facilities that do not fare well in long-term care typically are not as well-staffed and are lagging in a few of the areas of routine healthcare services we assessed. After looking at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination record. Candidly, we were a bit alarmed this nursing home vaccinated 62.874252 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is significantly less than average. Surprisingly, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than the average nursing home. This is its best feature in this category.
