Facility Inspections

Grade: A

Although we did not rate this nursing home favorably overall, we want to draw your attention to its nearly flawless inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A in this category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating these inspection ratings. One critical factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these are relatively insignificant. This particular nursing home received 7 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a solid inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

We also ended up giving this facility a fairly respectable grade in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of C. Our nursing rating assesses several subcategories, but the paramount one is the quantity of nurse hours spent with patients. This facility provides only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is a somewhat alarming figure as it is well below average. Lastly, while this place got dinged a bit for its nursing hours per resident, it actually excelled in some of our quality measures. With fewer than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it performed remarkably well in this metric.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

Turning to the area of short-term care, this facility received just a D in this area. Short-term care scores are important for prospective residents seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally utilizes additional highly-skilled nursing services. This includes a broad scope of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. The last datapoint we considered in this area is the number of patients that were able to return home from the facility. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 4.1 percent of its residents returning home. This was well below average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The next area we scored is long-term care. We gave it an F in this category, which is a bottom of the barrel score. In a long-term care environment, the facility's primary objective is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. On top of looking at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its patients. To our surprise, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. Sadly, some of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
