Facility Inspections

Grade: A

In addition to performing well in its overall grade, this nursing home received an excellent inspection report. Consequently, it received one of our highest scores in that category with an A. Perhaps the most significant factor we look at in determining our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. Facilities with higher scores in this category typically avoided the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. It does not appear that we have deficiency counts for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Adding to its top-shelf resume, this nursing home also excelled in our long-term care area. In fact, we gave it a score of A for that category. Facilities that excel in long-term care tend to be well-staffed and provide extensive hands on care to patients. After considering the quantity of care provided by nurses, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 95.91281 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is what we like to see. Pneumonia is too frequently a dangerous condition for nursing home patients so we prefer when a facility doesn't leave this to chance. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

Another strong feature for this facility is that it received an impressive nursing grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of B+. Nursing ratings are based largely on quantity of nursing care available. This nursing home averages 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the country in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as employing a system of moving a resident more often.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The last area we scored was short-term care. This facility received a better than average nursing score in our assessment, with a grade of B. While this is not quite as dominant as several of its other category grades, this is nevertheless one of our more favorable scores for this area. With our short-term care score, we endeavor to create a fair measure for rehabilitation. In this process, we assess a facility's level of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, based on the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last statistic we considered in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We found that 5.2 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
