Medical Staff Hours Per Patient (2019)
Nurse Quality
To pair with its strong overall score, we awarded this nursing home an A for our nursing score. In determining a facility's nursing grade, we weigh the quantity of hours nurses are with patients as well as the levels of training of the nurses. This nursing home boasts a really impressive 4.2 hours of nursing care per patient daily, of which a significant percentage of those hours were provided by registered nurses. This is one of the more highly skilled levels of nurses. This is among the better totals of nursing hours we found. On top of providing high levels of care, this place also excelled in several of the quality-based metrics we looked at. With below 5 percent of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, it fared as well as any nursing home the country in this category. This is generally an indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Many pressure ulcers could be avoided by offering better nursing care and a protocol of turning residents even once per day.
Facility Inspections
Adding to its impressive category grades, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A- for our inspections rating. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating these inspection ratings. One critical factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these end up being quite insignificant. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home was awarded a strong short-term care score as well. We gave it one of our higher grades in that area with a score of B. In computing these short-term care ratings, we quantify the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. Our goal is to devise a tool for sizing up the rehabilitation services of different facilities. One reason for this facility's strong score in this category is that it provides more care with registered nurses to its residents than the average nursing home. The last statistic we considered in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that 40.7 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
Long-term Care Quality
The final area we assessed is long-term care. We gave this facility a C in that category. With our long-term care grade, we look at the volume of services offered by a nursing home, along with a series of quality measures. After looking at the impressive nursing hours provided by this facility, we next considered the facility's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 95.20295 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is higher than the average nursing home. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 1.21 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes.
