Facility Inspections

Grade: A

To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. Arguably the most significant factor we consider in computing our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a facility's inspection reports. Nursing homes with better grades in this area most likely avoided the most severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. This particular nursing home received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a good inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This nursing home also was awarded a dominant short-term care grade. Indeed, this turned out to be this facility's second best category grade. In that area, we gave this facility a grade of A-. In the area of short-term care, we seek to evaluate indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We assess the facility's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and various therapists. It doesn't appear that this facility provided information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. The last item we looked at in this category is the number of residents who ultimately were able to return home from the facility. We found that 6 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This facility was awarded an impressive long-term care score as well. We gave it one of our better grades in that category with a grade of B+. When facilities receive this kind of grade in long-term care it is typically a good sign for resident care and indicates that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses aids. On top of looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is significantly higher than the majority of nursing homes. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

The last area we scored was nursing. This facility received a very good nursing score in our assessment, with a grade of B. While this wasn't quite as impressive as many of its other scores, this remains one of the more favorable grades for this category. There are quite a few factors included in this grade. Many of the factors are tied to levels of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
