One of the reasons this place is a quality nursing home is that it earned a very impressive inspection grade. In fact, inspections turned out to be its best category grade. In that area, we awarded this facility an A. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing our inspection scores. One critical factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some of these are quite minor. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its report, none of them were serious based on CMS' scale. A couple relatively minor dings are not necessarily something to panic about.

One of the other reasons we graded this nursing home so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing rating. In fact, nursing turned out to be its second best category grade. In that category, we gave this nursing home an A-. Our nursing score assesses the facility's level of nurse staffing. We factor in both the levels of licensure of those nurses as well as the number of hours spent with residents. This nursing home provides 3.8 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

The same can't be said for all nursing homes. Lastly, we considered the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. This place outperformed the majority of facilities in the nation with 52.2 percent of its residents returning home. This is a better rate than most nursing homes.

The next area we analyzed is long-term care. We gave this nursing home an acceptable score in this category, with a grade of B-. While this wasn't on par with some of this nursing home's other grades, it is still not the end of the world. In our long-term care grade, we focus on the quantity of services offered by a facility, along with some quality statistics. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients. This place keeps its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
