Facility Inspections
In addition to being a great overall grade, this facility also received A+ health inspections in recent years. Its inspections were virtually flawless. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining these inspection scores. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is usually more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies end up being relatively minor. While this nursing home had some minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G through L. This tells you CMS did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility also was given a strong long-term care grade. This actually turned out to be its second strongest category grade. In that area, this facility received a score of A. Facilities that excel in long-term care tend to provide residents with more supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. Once we assessed the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 95.3125 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is higher than the majority of nursing homes. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality
We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility received an impressive grade of A in our nursing category. Nursing ratings are largely associated with the nursing home's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can generally be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
Short-term Care Quality
Switching gears to our last area, this facility also performed admirably in our short-term care category. In fact, we gave it a grade of A- for this category. This wrapped up truly elite profile. Our short-term care ratings are probably most critical for patients requiring rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation generally utilizes more highly-skilled nursing services. This means not merely nursing, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that this facility submitted data regarding its registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. The final datapoint we looked at in this category is the number of patients that returned home from the facility. We found that 5.8 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.
