Facility Inspections
While we gave this nursing home a poor overall score, we gave it a B for our inspections category. This is the result of the facility receiving a decent inspection report this year. Arguably the most critical factor we look at in calculating our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a facility's recent inspection reports. It is typically in your best interest to avoid nursing homes that have a long list of severe deficiencies. While this place had a few deficiencies on its report, none of them were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is always a good sign.
Long-term Care Quality
Remarkably, we awarded this facility a B- for its long-term care rating, which isn't too bad of a score. For prospective patients in need of a permanent place to live rather than rehabilitation, long-term care is an important category. In addition to looking at the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to only 82.624115 percent of its patients, which is quite a bit lower than we expected. Fortunately, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality
We also wanted to point out that this nursing home received an F for its nursing grade. Our nursing score is based on the facility's level of nurse staffing. We look at both the levels of training of the nurses and the amount of time spent with patients. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing grades. This place performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.
Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to our fourth category, this nursing home did not fare well here either. With a bottom of the barrel grade of F in short-term care, this is about as terrible as it gets. Short-term care grades are based on a facility's quantity of highly-skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a wide spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, not to mention other forms of therapy. Based on its abysmal score in this category, we were not shocked to find that this place offers significantly fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most other nursing homes. Lastly, we assessed the number of patients who ultimately were able to return home from this facility. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.5 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
