Facility Inspections
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of B-. Inspection ratings weigh several factors found on a facility's inspection reports. One key criteria we weigh heavily is the number and severity of deficiencies. While this place had a few deficiencies on its report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. Finally, CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home also didn't grade out too badly in the area of short-term care. Indeed, we awarded it a grade of C in that category, which turned out to be among its better scores. In our short-term care category, we try to create a meaningful gauge for rehabilitation. In doing so, we analyze a nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Unfortunately, we found that this nursing home provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. Finally, we looked at the number of residents who ultimately were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 4.9 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was well below the national average.

Long-term Care Quality
Surprisingly, we awarded this facility a grade of C for its long-term care rating, which isn't too bad of a score. In our long-term care category, we weigh the amount of services offered by a nursing home, as well as some quality metrics. On top of considering the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. We found that this facility gave the vaccine to a relatively low 81.70029 percent of its patients, which is quite a bit lower than we expected. Fortunately, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Nurse Quality
The last category we assessed was nursing, in which this nursing home was given a rock bottom score in this area also. It received an F in this category, which is obviously a major disappointment. Our nursing grade assesses the facility's nurse staffing levels. We factor in both the levels of training of those nurses and the amount of time spent with patients. This particular place provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This statistic is well below the national average. To go along with its low totals in the area of nursing hours per resident, this nursing home also didn't fare as well in the quality-based measures we looked at in determining our nursing ratings. We looked at the percent of patients experiencing pressure ulcers and major falls. This nursing home had more falls and pressure ulcers than the average facility.
