Long-term Care Quality
To pair with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for its nursing grade. For prospective patients looking for a permanent residence rather than skilled nursing, long-term care grades are an important measure. This nursing home's vaccination records were not as strong as its number of nursing hours per resident. This facility administered the pneumonia vaccine to just 77.718834 percent of its residents. We would like to see some improvement herein this statistic in the future. Finally, we looked at its number of hospitalizations. Here we found that this nursing home had 4.23 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. While this wasn't as favorable as most of its other scores in this category, this statistic can be skewed for some nursing homes based on the preexisting medical conditions of residents.
Short-term Care Quality
We also gave this facility a score of A+ for its short-term care grade. In our short-term care assessment, we strive to create a valuable measure for rehabilitation services. In this process, we look at a facility's offerings of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. This place is above the national average both in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents. The last item we assessed in this category is the number of residents that eventually returned home from the facility. We found that it performed as well as just about any nursing home in Missouri in this area with 63.8 percent of its patients returning home. At most facilities, fewer than half of their short-term residents are able to return home.
Nurse Quality
In addition, this facility received high marks in the area of nursing. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that category with a score of A+. We weighed the licensure of nurses employed by the facility, in addition to the quantity of time those nurses spent with residents, in determining our score in this area. This facility provides an incredible 6.6 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This is far more care than what is offered by most nursing homes. Lastly, this nursing home also performed well in several of the quality measures we assessed. In terms of the number of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, this place performed better than the national average.
Facility Inspections
Another impressive feature for this nursing home is its inspection score. In that area, we gave this facility a score of A, completing its straight A performance. Inspection scores weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Although this facility had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were severe based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
