Facility Inspections
To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing our inspection ratings. One critical factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some of these can be relatively insignificant. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility performed well in the area of long-term care. As a result, we gave it a grade of A- for that area, which turns out to be one of our most dominant grades. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. On top of looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 99.46809 percent of its residents, which is significantly higher than most nursing homes. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality
Turning to the third category, this nursing home also received a grade of B for its short-term care rating. This is a well above average score in this category. In computing our short-term care grades, we assess the nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other highly trained professionals. This area is frequently a reliable assessment of the nursing home's rehabilitation. Unfortunately, it does not appear that this facility submitted data regarding its registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. Finally, we assessed the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 5.5 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
Nurse Quality
Moving on to our last category, this facility received a respectable nursing grade. Even though this is not quite as impressive as several of its other grades, this is really not a poor grade. In calculating a facility's nursing rating, we consider the amount of time nurses spend with residents as well as the level of skill of the nurses. This facility averages 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis, which is well below average. Lastly, although this place got dinged a bit for nursing hours, it excelled in some of our quality-based metrics. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it did remarkably well in this area.
