Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. Inspection scores weigh several factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One key criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with better grades in this area generally have few of these severe deficiencies. This place was hit with 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that the government inspectors didn't deem any of these deficiencies to cause an imminent risk to patient safety or health. We should point out that deficiency-free inspection reports are rare in this industry.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This nursing home also was awarded a very strong short-term care grade. This actually is this facility's second strongest category grade. In that category, this facility received a score of A-. Our short-term care scores are important for residents seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually requires additional highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means a vast scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. It does not appear that this nursing home submitted registered nurse or physical therapist staffing data. Lastly, we looked at the number of patients that returned home from this nursing home. We found that 5.2 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility received an impressive grade of A- in our nursing category. Our nursing score weighs a handful of subcategories, many of which are based on quantities of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality measures and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as by having a policy of moving a resident more frequently.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The final area we analyzed was this facility's poorest category. However, even in its worst category we still awarded it a respectable grade of B- in long-term care. With our long-term care category, we focus more on the amount of care provided by a nursing home, as well as some qualitative measures. Once we assessed the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is more than the majority of nursing homes. Finally, this facility was also able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
