Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

On top of performing well in its overall grade, this nursing home performed at an even higher level in the area of inspections. In fact, it received a nearly flawless inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that category with a score of A-. Inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This nursing home was assessed 7 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This tells you that the government inspectors did not consider any of these deficiencies to pose an immediate risk to resident safety or health. We should point out that deficiency-free inspections are rare in the industry.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing grade. Nursing turned out to be its second best category grade. In that category, we gave this nursing home a grade of B+. In calculating a facility's nursing score, we consider the amount of time nurses commit to residents as well as the level of skill of the nurses. This nursing home averages 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can frequently be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This facility was awarded its third highest category grade in the category of long-term care. We awarded this nursing home a grade of B- in this area, which is a respectable score. In the area of long-term care, we analyze the quantity of services offered by a facility, rather than more healthcare-oriented services. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Fortunately, this facility administered the vaccine to 99.82548 percent of its residents, which is an above average total. This place also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The final category we rated was short-term care. This facility was awarded a B- for the category. In our short-term care rating, we seek to create a fair gauge for rehabilitation. In this process, we look at a facility's level of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, according to the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last datapoint we looked at in this area is the percentage of patients that ultimately were able to return home from the facility. We found that just 3.5 percent of this facility's patients returned home. Unfortunately, this was below average.
