This nursing home received a quality overall grade as described above, but we especially would like to emphasize its excellent inspections in recent years. We gave it an A in this category. Pressure ulcers can often be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as by having a policy of moving patients even once per day.

In addition, this facility also was given favorable long-term care scores in our assessment. Indeed, we awarded it one of our more favorable scores in that area, with a grade of B+. Facilities that receive this kind of grade in long-term care typically provide consistent around the clock care to make sure patients are well cared for. Once we assessed the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 99.83137 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is significantly higher than most nursing homes. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

The last area we scored proved to be this facility's worst category. However, even in its weakest link we still gave it an acceptable grade of C for short-term care. In calculating our short-term care grades, we scrutinize the nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This rating is considered to be a meaningful measure of the facility's rehabilitation services. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last datapoint we looked at in this category is the number of patients that eventually returned home from the nursing home. We found that just 2.8 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. Unfortunately, this was below the national average.
