Facility Inspections
This facility's overall grade was propped up by the fact that it has received favorable inspections in recent years. We gave them a strong score in this category, with a B+. This is a much better grade than the facility's overall score. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating our inspection scores. One key factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies end up being quite minor. This particular nursing home received 5 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a good inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.
Nurse Quality
This nursing home also received a strong nursing grade. In fact, we awarded it a grade of B+ in that category, which is one of our better scores. Nursing scores are mostly tied to a facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home Arkansas in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as by employing a system of turning patients at least once a day.

Long-term Care Quality
In addition, we also would like to point out that this facility received favorable long-term care marks this year. We gave them one of our higher grades in that category, with a grade of B+. For residents in need of a permanent place to live as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care grades are an important measure. One of the factors we considered on top of nursing hours is vaccinations. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that this facility submitted data regarding vaccinations. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Short-term Care Quality
The final area we looked at is short-term care, which was this nursing home's worst category. We gave this facility a grade of D in this category. Sadly, this category pulled down the facility's overall grade to a certain degree. Short-term care ratings are based in part on the nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled nursing services. This means a vast scope of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. In this nursing home's case, we found that it provides less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who ultimately returned home from this nursing home. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 3.4 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.
