Facility Inspections
On top of faring well overall, this nursing home earned a nearly flawless inspection report. Consequently, it received one of our best grades in that category with an A+. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining our inspection grades. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are quite insignificant. We were not able to find deficiency data for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
An additional reason we assessed this facility so favorably is that it was given an A+ long-term care score. This is flat out as strong as it gets in this category. Nursing homes that excel in this category typically are well-staffed and provide extensive hands on care to residents. One of the criteria we considered in addition to nursing hours was vaccinations. This facility administered the pneumonia vaccination to 100 percent of its residents. This is a great way to avoid unnecessary deaths for the senior population. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, according to the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. We found that 6 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.

The final category we assessed is nursing, where this nursing home was awarded a grade of A-. This wrapped up a very strong profile. Only a select few facilities earned an A- or higher in every category. Our nursing score is mostly associated with a facility's nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place.
