On top of receiving a great overall rating, this facility received an A+ inspection grade. This score is based on the facility's recent inspection reports. An A+ in this area is one of the highest complements we can pay to a facility. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining these inspection grades. One critical factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are quite minor. While this nursing home had a few minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G through L. Finally, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5.9 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

This nursing home also was dominant in the category of long-term care, where we awarded it a grade of A. Very few facilities received a better grade in this category. Facilities that receive this type of grade in this category tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to make sure residents are kept in good health. Once we assessed the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination records. It does not look like this nursing home submitted data regarding vaccinations. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

The last area we graded was nursing, where this nursing home received a grade of A. This topped off a first-rate profile. Few facilities earned an A- or higher in each of our categories. The nursing rating consists of quite a few components, many of which are based on levels of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at certain nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. These include minimizing residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We look at these metrics as predictive indicators of the caliber of nursing care offered, since better care tends to reduce these problems.
