While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable nursing grade this year. We gave it a grade of B- in that category. Nursing scores are heavily correlated with quality and quantity of nursing care. This place provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics. While this place got docked a bit for nursing hours, it excelled in some of these quality metrics. With less than five percent of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, it did very well in this subcategory. This is generally an indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as by employing a policy of turning residents more often.

This facility also didn't fare poorly in the area of long-term care. In fact, we gave it a C in that area, which ended up being another one of its more favorable scores. In a long-term care setting, the facility's primary objective is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. Once we assessed the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination statistics. We were pleased to discover that this nursing home vaccinated 99.80507 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Lastly, this place was also able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Moving on to the category of short-term care, this facility was given a grade of just D in that category. The only favorable thing we can say is that none of its deficiencies were in the categories that indicate they posed a threat to resident health or safety. Lastly, we want to point out that this place was assessed significant government fines amounting to more than $100,000. This often means that a nursing home's bad performance has been an issue for several years.
