Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

On top of earning a great overall grade, this facility also earned an excellent short-term care grade, with a grade of A. In the area of short-term care, we endeavor to evaluate indicators of a facility's rehabilitation. We look at a facility's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents who eventually returned home from this facility. We found that 6.4 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

Turning to inspections, this nursing home excelled in that area, which is based on the facility's inspections. We awarded it an A- for that category. Inspection ratings are based on datapoints found on the a nursing home's government inspections. Facilities that receive favorable grades in this category typically have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these facilities generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. While this place had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. Remember that deficiency-free inspections are rare in this industry.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

To complement its strong performance in other areas, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A- for our inspections rating. Nursing grades are based largely on quantity of nursing care available. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The next category we analyzed was long-term care. We gave this nursing home an acceptable score in this category, with a grade of B-. Although this wasn't as high as many of its other scores, it is still not the end of the world. Long-term care scores are pivotal for patients needing personal care. After considering the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 92.05298 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is a bit below what we were hoping for but still a reasonably acceptable figure. On a more positive note, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
