Facility Inspections

Grade: A

In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this place also received top notch inspections in recent years. We gave them one of our higher scores in this category, with a grade of A. Our inspection ratings are tied to several pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that receive favorable grades in this category typically have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This particular nursing home received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a good inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

One of the other reasons we rated this nursing home so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing score. In that area, we awarded this facility an A-. When calculating a nursing home's nursing rating, we look at the amount of time nurses are seeing residents and the skill levels of those nurses. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place Tennessee in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as by having a policy of moving residents even once per day.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Turning to an additional strength for this facility, we awarded them one of our more positive grades in our long-term care category as well, with a B. Nursing homes that receive this kind of score in long-term care tend to provide consistent around the clock care to make sure residents are kept in good health. After considering the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 55.362316 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which happens to be a few points below what we anticipated but still a reasonably acceptable percentage. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The final category we scored was short-term care, where this nursing home was given a B-. Even though this turned out to be its least impressive category grade, this is still a middle of the pack score. In calculating our short-term care ratings, we size up a nursing home's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other licensed professionals. This category is generally a fair measure of a facility's rehabilitation services. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this figure is below average.
