Facility Inspections

Grade: A

To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. Perhaps the most significant factor we look at in determining our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher scores in this category typically dodged the more severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. While this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its report, none were serious based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility received an impressive grade of A in our nursing category. Our nursing rating is mostly associated with the facility's nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Turning our third category, this nursing home received a strong short-term care grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of A in this area. Short-term care grades are critical for prospective residents in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually requires higher levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means a vast spectrum of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final measure we considered in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We found that 5.2 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Moving on to our final area, this nursing home received an excellent long-term care rating. We gave it an A- in this area, giving this facility straight A's. Nursing homes that do well in this category tend to provide patients with closer supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 99.591835 percent of its residents, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia sadly is often a life threatening health condition for nursing home residents so we prefer when a nursing home doesn't leave this to chance. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
