Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A- for our inspections rating. Our inspection scores are based on several datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that receive favorable grades in this area tend to have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. Fortunately, although this facility had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G through L. This means the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. We should point out that deficiency-free inspections are rare in this industry.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

This nursing home performed well in our nursing category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A- for that category, which is one of our highest scores. Our nursing grade is mostly tied to a nursing home's nurse staffing. This facility provided 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can often be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

In addition, this facility also was given favorable short-term care grades this year. Indeed, we awarded them one of our stronger grades in that area, with a grade of B+. In our short-term care score, we strive to create a sound barometer for rehabilitation. In this process, we analyze a nursing home's scope of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Unfortunately, it does not appear that this facility provided information on registered nurse or physical therapist staffing. Finally, we looked at the number of residents that eventually returned home from this nursing home. We found that 5.7 percent of this nursing home's residents were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

Switching gears to our last area, this facility received an acceptable long-term care rating. Although this wasn't quite as elite as many of its other category grades, this is still nothing to be ashamed of. In a long-term care environment, the nursing home's primary goal is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. In addition to assessing the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. We were a bit bothered by the fact that this nursing home provided the vaccine to a relatively low 89.14027 percent of its patients. Nevertheless, this facility was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
