Medical Staff Hours Per Patient (2019)
Nurse Quality
To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for its nursing grade. Nursing ratings are tied to quality and quantity of nursing care. This nursing home boasts a really impressive 4.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis, of which a significant percentage of those hours were provided by registered nurses. This is one of the most highly trained levels of nurses. This is one of the better totals of nursing hours we were able to find. On top of offering high levels of care, this nursing home also excelled in several of the quality measures we looked at. With under five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it fared as well as any facility Ohio in this category.
Facility Inspections
Adding to its impressive category grades, this facility also excelled in the category of inspections, where it received an A. Few nursing homes performed as well in this area. These inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. While this place had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G through L. This means CMS didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. We should point out that deficiency-free inspection reports are rare in the industry.
Short-term Care Quality
We also want to point out the fact that this facility received a dominant score of A in our short-term care area. In the category of short-term care, we attempt to qualify measures of a facility's rehabilitation. We look at a nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. One reason for this facility's strong score in this category is that it provides more care with registered nurses to its residents than the average nursing home. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of residents who were able to return home from this facility. We found that it outperformed the majority of facilities in the nation with 55.2 percent of its patients returning home. This is a better rate than most facilities.
Long-term Care Quality
Moving on to the next area, this facility was given a highly favorable long-term care grade. In fact, we awarded it a grade of B+ in this category, finishing off one of our more impressive report cards. Nursing homes that do well in this category typically provide residents with more supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. On top of considering the impressive level of care provided by nurses and other staff at this nursing home, we also were happy with the nursing home's vaccination statistics. By way of example, this nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccine to 100 percent of its patients, which is very impressive. This combination proved to be effective as this nursing home keeps its patients out of the hospital. It had only 1.1 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a significantly better hospitalization rate than the majority of nursing homes.
