Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of performing well overall, this nursing home received a nearly flawless inspection report. Consequently, it earned one of our best grades in that area with an A+. Inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This nursing home was hit with 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered severe. This indicates that the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies to pose an immediate threat to resident safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

This facility also was superb in the area of long-term care, where we gave it a grade of A. Not many facilities received a better grade in this area. When nursing homes receive this kind of score in long-term care it is a good sign for resident care and suggests that the place is well-staffed with nurses aids. On top of assessing the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents. Vaccines are vital to keeping residents healthy. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

This facility also received an impressive short-term care grade. In fact, we awarded it an above average score of B in this category. In the area of short-term care, we attempt to qualify indicators of a facility's rehabilitation services. We look at the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that this nursing home submitted information on registered nurse or physical therapist staffing. Finally, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

The final area we analyzed was this nursing home's worst category. Nevertheless, even in its weakest link we still awarded it an acceptable grade of B- for nursing. Our nursing rating consists of a handful of factors, however, the most important consideration is the level of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This is a lower figure than we were hoping for. Lastly, our nursing scores also consider quality-based assessments, such as preventing major falls. Despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours, this facility performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is generally a reliable indicator that a facility has quality controls in place. Many falls can be avoided if a nursing home supplies enough nurses to assist its patients.
